DeRo, Ching bring home first victory
A late penalty conversion by Dwayne DeRosario was the game winning goal for Houston Dynamo–its first of the season–as the defending champions topped the Colorado Rapids by a 2-1 score. “I was glad to get that goal,” said goalkeeper Pat Onstad of DeRo’s winner. “Guys were pretty happy to get that monkey off our back.”
The win restores some order to Houston’s world and puts the team back in the thick of the Western Conference race.
Match Reports
Anemic offense lengthens winless streak»
Another game, another nil-nil draw for Houston. To say the game was physical is an understatement. The first half was littered with more yellow cards than shots on goal. With the eight yellows and one red card ejection, the two teams beat the season high tally for nine cards. Pat Onstad was not happy with the referee. “Without getting fined, I think someone in the middle didn’t do a very good job. I think he let it get out of hand. I think that’s why you saw the altercations.”
Crew prolong Dynamo misery»
Houston coach Dominic Kinnear liked what he saw from his team at Columbus last night. The result was another story. After five games the defending champions are still looking for their first win and find themselves staring up at the rest of the league.
Dynamo draw, again, this time with L.A.»With three points from four matches, Houston Dynamo are now dead last in the Western Conference. Still, Dynamo coach Dominic Kinnear was satisfied with the team’s performance. “As far as our game, that was a very good soccer game,” he said. “I thought our team played very well.”
